This "Ground Control Station" is designed to control a single UAV in a standalone configuration (No external PC), however it can work with a laptop and addtional GCS software to provide more advanced functionality. But the assumption is always "The laptop can crash at any moment" meaning the GCS must be able to hold it's own in a UAV mission, and reboot in less than 100 ms if any trouble occurs.

I designed and built this ruggedized unit with the conditions commonly experienced in both the Mojave desert and sub-zero New England winters in mind. It may look like a cold war relic, but unlike most laptops I can run this unit for 6 hours in daylight conditions and in freezing conditions without the display becoming unusable.

I designed not only the custom circuit boards and RF modem inside, but also wrote all software. This included the graphics, USB driver, LVDS communication between the various devices, among other things.
