This was the project that got me into drone aircraft. This plane could not fly itself, so it is called an RPV (Remotely Piloted Vechicle).

I developed all software running on a laptop on the ground, as well as all circuit boards on the aircraft. Flying the aircraft was very similar to instrument flying a real one. Video was useful but only up to a point. The pilot had to use the pitot airspeed, turn and bank indicator, horizon, altimiter, and various other instruments to manually fly to waypoints.

The aircraft was flown a few dozen times however was lost by the client when the laptop overheated and shut down. Fortunatly this took place in a dry lakebed so nobody was around, however it was quite scary!
